There are two key issues for the region: A) there are huge biomaterial resources and only a fraction utilised so far and B) there is an increasing interest for the resources, and as they are (after all) limited, the use has to be sustainable and the competition between the use for Food, Fibre and Fuel has to be balanced. The project aims at strengthening the development towards a sustainable, competitive and territorially integrated Baltic Sea Region in the field of sustainable use of bio-energy. BSR Priority: 4. BEPPo – Blue Energy Production in Ports
Energisektoren kan fungere som et fremtidig konkurransefortrinn for nordsjøregionen. BEPPo fokuserer på «blå energi» (bølger og tidevann) i samspill med tradisjonelle (gass/olje/kull) og nye energikilder (vind/biomasse). Basert på egen innovasjonskapasitet skal havnene i NSR bli baser for produksjon av integrerte fornybare ressurser, og dermed sikre pålitelige og kostnadseffektive leveranser av ren, grønn energi. Dette gir en unik mulighet til å utvikle marine energiplattformer i havnene, og løfte fram lokale forretningsmuligheter som kan øke den økonomiske veksten i havneregionene.
