Cross-Border Ambassadors – 2025 Mandate

Cross-Border Ambassadors – 2025 Mandate

august 31 Heldags

Following the successful implementation of the Youth4Cooperation Ambassadors programme, the Border Focal Point Network (BFPN) is proud to launch the first call for applications under its newly enhanced Cross-Border Ambassadors initiative.

This initiative, coordinated by the European Commission’s DG REGIO, seeks to empower a new generation of young people living in or connected to Europe’s border regions to engage actively in EU-level dialogue on cross-border cooperation, contribute meaningful insights from the ground, and enhance the visibility of border issues through youth-led communication.

Up to 10 Ambassadors will be selected to join this third edition of the programme, contributing to a stronger, more inclusive, and better integrated Europe.

What is the Cross-Border Ambassadors initiative?

The initiative offers young people aged 18–30 the chance to represent their regions, share their stories, and work alongside European Commission officials and fellow Ambassadors to raise awareness of cross-border challenges and solutions.

As part of the programme, Ambassadors will:

  • Participate in a six-month mandate running from 29 September 2025 to 31 March 2026
  • Attend monthly online meetings with DG REGIO and the BFPN team
  • Contribute to the BFPN’s communications activities, including content on Futurium, social media, and newsletter features
  • Select at least one personal focus activity, such as:
  • Creating short-form video content (e.g. vox pops, explainer videos)
  • Producing a podcast episode on youth and cross-border cooperation
  • Organising a local event or cultural exchange in a border region
  • Writing a short report or policy brief with recommendations

In addition, Ambassadors will have the opportunity to take part in the Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debates, engage with other EU youth initiatives, and collaborate with peers from other Member States and neighbouring countries.

All Ambassadors will receive a formal Certificate of Completion signed by DG REGIO, and outstanding contributions may be featured in Commission communications or policy events.

Applications are now open and close on 31 August 2025.

Final candidates will be notified by 15 September 2025.
